build soil.

grow community.

Our mission is to divert organic wastes away from landfills and convert them into microbially rich soil products. We seek to replace the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides with non-toxic composted soil products. Our products and methods are more effective and safer than conventional systems with compounding benefits to the local ecosystem and community.

Founded in 2020, Diggers Cooperative is a worker owned cooperative made up of soil nerds, climate optimists, and community oriented change makers. The Diggers are affecting change at the “ground level” of Maine’s ecosystems through the microbial miracle of compost. Our inputs are drawn from the organic waste streams of local agriculture, industry and restaurants. Our methods are based on the teachings of the Soil Food Web School, Permaculture, Korean Natural Farming and many others. Our products improve soils and by extension improve crops, water quality, and native habitats.
