Garden beds in Derry, NH
The challenge with this site was to build a dog-proof and deer-proof garden space directly on top of raw ledge. We integrated a protective fence line to keep out pest animals. Our client wanted to grow veggies as well as perennial pollinators, so we planted a pollinator buffer around the entire perimeter of the garden.
Garden Beds in New Durham
The Wrights bought their dream home with a hay field on a substantial slope behind the house. As this was the best place for the veggie garden, we constructed a series of stone retaining walls to create leveled gardens for veggie production. The garden beds form an U shape open to the southern sun similar to a “Keyhole Bed.” At the center of the garden are three oval grow beds reserved for perennial crops. This installation was created to produce enough food for storage and canning for a family of four. There was enough space in the production garden for:
• Strawberries • Asparagus • Various Melons • Cucumbers • Onions, Garlic, Leeks • Zucchini • Squash & large Pumpkins • Beans
• Cabbage, Broccoli, kale • Sage, Thyme, Cilantro, Rosemary, Lavender, Oregano • Nettle, Mints, Lemon Balm
• Medicinal Flowers • Cut flowers
• Tomatoes & Peppers
